These terms apply when you use this site or ask Southern Indiana Preceptor to help with a clinical placement. By using the site or our service, you agree to them. Please read them alongside your USI program's own requirements.

The service
Southern Indiana Preceptor is an independent placement service for the University of Southern Indiana nursing students. We search for preceptors and clinical sites that fit a student's USI course, prepare preceptor and site information for the student's submission to USI, and help find a replacement if a preceptor steps away.
USI does not run this service, and the information on this site is not an official USI statement. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Southern Indiana Preceptor, and "you" means the person using the site or the service.
USI's role and final approval
the University of Southern Indiana reviews and approves every preceptor and clinical site its students use, and that approval is final in every case. USI's catalog, program pages, student guides, course syllabi and faculty set the rules for your program.
Where anything on this site or in our communications differs from USI's current requirements, USI's requirements apply.
No promise of placement, approval or dates
We work hard to find a suitable preceptor and site for you. We do not promise that one will be found, that one will be found by a particular date, that USI will approve a site or preceptor we identify, or that you will start or finish any course or program on a particular timetable.
Preceptors and sites make their own decisions and may change or withdraw their availability at any time, including after USI's approval.
Your responsibilities
You remain responsible for meeting USI's requirements and deadlines, whether or not we are helping you. In particular, you are responsible for:
- submitting the documentation USI asks for, including the Preceptor Packet, your CastleBranch (DISA) items and anything your course asks you to record in Typhon, on time;
- holding an active, unencumbered RN license wherever a practicum site is located;
- completing background checks, drug screens, health clearance, immunizations and any site requirements before patient contact;
- logging hours and encounters accurately and following each site's rules;
- staying in contact with your program and course faculty;
- giving us accurate information and telling us promptly about any change.
Fees
Our fees are quoted individually, based on your program, course, location and timing, and your quote sets out what it covers. Charges made by a clinical site or other third party, and USI's own tuition and fees, are separate from our fee. USI's student guides describe the clinical requirements and costs that sit with the student.
Information on this site
Our guides summarize USI's public bulletin, program pages, Graduate Nursing Handbook and other official sources as of the date shown on each page. They are general information, not academic, legal or professional advice, and USI's rules can change. Check your syllabus, the current handbook and your course faculty before relying on any detail.
Communications
Sending us your details means you consent to our contacting you about your enquiry and placement by email, phone call or text message, as our privacy policy describes. Reply STOP to any text to opt out of text messages.
Acceptable use
Please use this site for its intended purpose. Do not submit false information, misuse the forms or chat, or copy the site's content for commercial use without permission.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Southern Indiana Preceptor is not liable for losses that arise from the decisions of USI, a preceptor or a clinical site, from delays in approval or course progression, or from reliance on the general information on this site. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have that cannot be limited by law.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms from time to time. Each revision carries a new date at the top of the page. Questions about these terms can be sent through the contact page or the chat.
