Three things that follow you across state lines
First, USI's Professional Licensure Disclosure lists, program by program, the states whose residents it does not enroll, and whether each program meets a state's educational requirements; the table carries an "Updated Fall 2025" date and a few internal conflicts. Second, USI wants your RN license clean and current in each state that hosts your clinical hours. Third, the state's own rules decide who can precept you and whether the site needs extra paperwork.

Which states can't enroll in USI's online NP programs?
For the MSN nurse practitioner tracks, USI's table lists Alabama, Arizona, Delaware, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, North Dakota, Nevada, New York, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania and Wyoming. What happens if I move during a USI program?
USI says moving to a state its graduate nursing program does not recognize will end your ability to continue coursework, with active military the exception. Tell the Program Chair and APRN Director before you move. The relocation guide covers the steps.
What license does USI expect for clinicals outside my home state?
One that is unencumbered and good in the state that hosts your clinical site, on top of your home-state license. Indiana and Kentucky belong to the Nurse Licensure Compact; Illinois does not. The RN license guide explains how that plays out.
Do I have to come to Evansville?
USI's graduate NP tracks have no fixed on-campus immersion, though students may be asked to visit campus to show clinical competency. The campus visits guide explains when that happens.
