Southern Indiana Preceptor is a preceptor placement service for University of Southern Indiana nursing students. We track down preceptors and clinical sites suited to your USI course, prepare the details USI's forms ask for, and stay with you through approval and across every clinical semester.

What we do
We take on the part of USI's process that sits with the student: the search. USI's Graduate Nursing Handbook makes students responsible for identifying their own preceptors and sites, and that search is where most of the weeks go. Our placement desk finds clinicians who meet USI's rules for your track and course, confirms their interest, and gathers the preceptor and site details USI's two placement forms, Form G and the agreement request, require.
USI keeps its role in full. The Graduate Clinical Liaison approves every preceptor and site, USI signs every Clinical Education Agreement, and USI's confirmation email opens every rotation. Our work is to make sure what reaches USI is complete, typed and early, so its review goes smoothly the first time.
Built around USI, form by form
Every school runs clinical placement its own way, and USI's way is specific. There is a six-week packet rule, an agreement request that names the site's signer, a program mailbox for submissions, a subject line to match, and a green light email before any hours. The preceptor rules differ by track, down to PMHNP students, whose preceptor must be a psychiatric NP or a psychiatrist.
So we built this service around those details instead of a general checklist. Our searches start from your NRSG course, our screening follows USI's license, certification and experience rules, and our planning follows USI's Fall, Spring and Summer sequence. How we work with you
You work with a placement advisor at our placement desk. You can reach us through the form on any page, the chat, WhatsApp or text, whichever suits your shifts.
Your placement advisor learns your track, course, location and schedule, prepares a written quote setting out the scope of the work, and keeps you updated as preceptors are found and screened. You meet the preceptor, sign and send the forms from your USI email, and we stay close until approval, then turn to your next course. The how it works page sets out each step, and cost covers how a quote is built. If your schedule changes or a colleague offers a lead, tell your advisor and the plan adjusts around it.

- Respect for USI's process. USI approves; we prepare. Your submissions go from your USI account, as USI asks.
- Care with your information. Prospective preceptors and sites receive only the details a placement decision requires, as our privacy policy sets out.
- Staying on call. If a preceptor has to stop mid-course, the replacement search starts at once.
- Plain answers. Where USI's sources disagree, we say so and point you to the person at USI who decides.

Who we serve
Our focus is University of Southern Indiana nursing students who find their own clinical sites. That covers the online MSN in FNP, AGACNP and PMHNP, the three post-master's certificates, the BSN-to-DNP and post-MSN DNP, the MSN Nursing Education Leadership and Healthcare Systems Leadership tracks, and the online RN-to-BSN.
We search in any state where USI enrolls your program and your RN license is unencumbered, from the Evansville tri-state of Indiana, Kentucky and Illinois to the other states on USI's list. Preceptors who want to work with a USI student are part of the picture too, and the form below has a place for them. If you are unsure whether your program needs a search at all, ask us; the answer depends on your track and course.

Who handles my placement?
Your placement advisor on our desk handles your search, your quote and your updates, and you can reach the desk through the form, the chat, WhatsApp or text. Your advisor knows USI's forms and rules for your track, so questions about the Preceptor Packet or the agreement signer get a specific answer.
Where do the facts on this site come from?
From USI's own public sources: the Graduate Nursing Handbook, the Graduate and Undergraduate Bulletins, USI's forms and program pages, and archived copies of those same pages for history. State guides draw on boards of nursing and state statutes. Every page names its sources and carries an updated date.
Does USI approve the preceptors you find?
USI reviews every preceptor and site the same way, however they were found. The preceptor signs the Preceptor Agreement in Form G, the site's signer receives a Clinical Education Agreement, the Graduate Clinical Liaison approves, and your hours begin after the confirmation email. We prepare everything that review looks at.
Can preceptors contact you?
Yes. Preceptors interested in teaching a USI student can pick the preceptor option on the form, and the page for preceptors explains what USI asks of them, from license and certification to the Preceptor Orientation Packet and the feedback forms in Typhon.
